Awareness on ‘Sustainable Consumption’ by Managing Home Bio-waste and Developing Kitchen Garden at Home in Gangtok Sikkim

Green Action Week is an initiative by the Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (SSNC) and is carried out in India coordinated by CUTS International. Observed each year during the first week of October (Oct. 4-10, 2021), is a global people’s campaign to promote sustainable consumption. Around 60 organisations in 40 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe, North- and South America are participating in the campaign in 2021. TF had partnered to organize this GAW campaign in Sikkim state of India. In this campaign, training to convert household waste into fertilizer is given to households/youths along with support in making kitchen garden at their home space. A workshop has been organized engaging different government and other stakeholders to discuss the GAW theme of sustainable consumption and home waste management.

Total impact- This campaign had directly intervened with 20 households (for training and input distribution) and further awareness posters has been put in all important points (around 50) of Gangtok city.
