Meet Reaudi Khariya of Madhu Tea garden in Alipurduar. Eight years ago, the garden closed and unfortunately she lost her job. Currently, she works as temporary day labour in the nearby tea garden and earns Rs 130 a day.

On October 2021, Tomorrow Foundation’s approached her to train and help develop nutri-gardens for basic food security of her family. The initiative has helped her grow vegetables in the backyard. Besides the daily consumption of her family, she sells the surplus produce. After the initial success in growing Radish, spinach, beans, pumpkin and carrot, Reaudi engaged a bigger area for farming and earned around Rs 3000 by selling the surplus from her first yield.
