Success Story

Labpur is one of the backward blocks of Birbhum district and farming is the main livelihood of the people. Most of the farms here are single-crop due to water scarcity. Paddy is the main crop here and is cultivated only in the rainy season. Paddy farming gives a return of around ₹ 5000-8000 per bigha which is inadequate for the family to survive financially.

In March 2022, Tomorrow’s Foundation initiated a project of banana cultivation on 130 Bighas of land covering 120 farmer families. Solar submersible pumps have been installed for irrigation. The project is promoting the cultivation of the G9 variety Banana which usually gives profits of around Rs 40,000 per year for 5 years. TF team has also linked with a marketing agency for the selling of the product.
